I
didn't an3cipate enjoying the
coldest season this much, but
I'm far from being a stranger
to it. Growing up in Western
New York, "lake effect snow" is
just as common a phrase at
home as "go shovel the drive-
way." Growing up, I was good for
a snowman a$er a he$y storm,
or hollowing out dri$s and plow
piles to make a fort. Rather than
ski or snowboard, sledding at a
local park was my main choice of
sliding down a slick hill. I never
joined the ski club in high school,
and I wouldn't feel a slope under
my boots for the first 3me un3l I
tried snowboarding in 2018. And
it wouldn't be un3l the begin-
ning of 2022 when a switch
flipped in my brain and I started
exploring the world of winter
recrea3on.
