C harile Holmgren, Co-owner and Head Brewer of the Fence Road Farm Brewery in Warwick was a professional musician for over 25 years, playing bass and guitar for a number of dif- ferent bands and alongside such notables as Phish and The Dave Matthews Band. Most recently, he played with The Dave Kopec Electric Band. In November of 2025, The Fence Road Farm Brewery at the Oasis at Warwick opened. Charlie then tapped into his lifelong list of musician friends and there are amazing bands playing there al- most every week. As well as living a life of music, his journey led him not to travel up and down the coast, but to land in one place in particular: Warwick, New York. For him, there could have been no other destination. "I think musicians and artists in general are a certain type of personality that fit the vibe of the area in many ways," he remarks. " There's a passion for musicianship and there's live music available in many, many places in the area. I think musicians who come here, my- self included, feel that." "Our first day we opened, November 1st, we were overwhelmed," he recalls. "Ab- solutely packed to the brim. The venue boasts a nice indoor stage. Unlike many other places, the shows are indoors, mean- ing they go on rain or shine which makes the Fence Road Farm Brewery a very attrac- tive four season venue. They have a covered patio with a wood fired pizza oven, an amazing event space for all sorts of gather- ings and farm weddings, and expansive natural surround- ings including a world class 18 hole Disc Golf course. He is quick to tout the entire region as a musical destination. "I think if you're a music lover, you come to Warwick and the surrounding areas, and realize that there's a lot of live music available, and that's a big draw." fenceroad.com theoasisatwarwick.com Charlie Holmgren HOOK 57
