Gehrig playing catch with a baseball. From there, the two took Doyle "under their wing," recruited him for the Rutgers Ul3- mate Frisbee team, and sparked something wonderful within him. In 1982, when Roddick had an issue with scheduling the World Frisbee Championships at the Rose Bowl in California, he called upon Doyle to design and build a disc golf course at Rut- gers so the World Champions could be relocated there. Doyle has played on four World Championship Ul3mate teams; is a member of the New York and New Jersey Disc Golf Halls of Fame; and in October was inducted into the World Disc Golf Hall of Fame. The public course on The Oasis is free of charge, and the pro shop on site allows those without a set of discs to rent or pur- chase them for their rounds. The 18 holes cover land featuring undula3ng topography and crea3ve sculptures along the way. Doyle had the vision to create a course that, "when designed properly, could appeal to players of all skill levels." To accom- plish this, he u3lized mul3ple tees and baskets on each hole. "The diversity of ac3vi3es and spaces makes this venue very special." Since the Fence Road Farm Brewery opened in the fall, guests can enjoy an array of delicious food offerings prepared by Doyle's son Zack, from their wood fired brick oven pizza to a full on menu, as well as their dis3nct series of beers, meads, and seltzers.
