HOOK 9 been fostering for 30 years and was working with another rescue organiza- 3on, called Wonderdog, and saw that the building was for sale. As she walked up to look at the property, on the side of the building, she found an abandoned group of dogs, le$ una4ended for a cou- ple of months, emaciated and ma4ed. She called the sheriff and the SPCA, but she couldn't leave without pu5ng her years of rehabilita3on experience towards rescuing this site. It couldn't have been be4er 3ming. In the a$ermath of COVID, a large number of dogs were abandoned across the US. Sarah began to build Hudson Paws two years ago by driving the first batch of rescue dogs across the country, from Cali- fornia to Hudson, in her Airstream trailer. Since 2024, she has used her decades of ex- perience with animals to run Hudson Paws as a 501(c)(3) organiza3on. Inside Hudson Paws, one thing that stands out is what you don't hear. Erin reveals this is inten3onal, "Every kennel, shelter you go to, they're just wild with barking. So we have gone to great lengths to make it a healthy and happy environment. We have dog groups; they are in constant rota3on in the yard." This, along with the lack of fluorescent ligh3ng and an3sep3c smells o$en found at other industrial buildings like this, shaped a warm, welcoming atmosphere Every kennel, shelter you go to, they're just wild with barking. So we have gone to great lengths to make it a healthy and happy environment. Execu3ve Director, Sarah Shaw (r) and Managing Director, Erin Reck (l)
