18 HOOK house," says Lisa Green, of Wright Bros. Real Estate and lis4ng agent for the property. "It speaks to your soul." But it was probably the Baldwin era when the home gained its notoriety under the reign of actor Stephen Baldwin and his wife in the '90s and early 2000s. In a Gatsby-like fashion there were grand par4es on the lawn, open dinner par4es with Hollywood A-listers, and locals alike, and music echoed across the expansive property and called out for everyone to come. While the Baldwins did a fair share of work to the property, the real renova4on work began under the direc4on of the current owners James and Elizabeth Mc- Cormick. "But more than just renova4on, restora4on and being at- ten4ve to the home's 1800s pedigree was important to us," explains James McCormick. "When we took a look at the structure and saw the old growth 4mber beams, we knew the support was there to add what would be a defining architectural feature, a new slate roof in keeping with what the original would have been." Other projects that the McCormick's tackled were upgrading the HVAC and water systems, as well as major landscaping like re-grad- ing the lawn, hardscaping the entrance and ligh4ng that added to the curb appeal and prominence of the property. But perhaps the best feature is the least tangible, a work/life balance inspired by the landscape. It used to be that the corner office was the hallmark of success, now freedom is the ul4mate flex. Imagine waking up to river views, preparing breakfast in a chef style kitchen and walking across the lawn to an on-property writer's studio that was de- signed for deep work. There's a vibe and energy that emanates and inspires. With six bedrooms, the home is well-suited for a large family, making this private space an invaluable oasis to retreat to while s4ll being present. In the McCormick's case, both James and Elizabeth worked from Above: A large-scale dining area ideal for entertaining connects seamlessly to the bright chef's kitchen, with windows and French doors leading to a private backyard retreat.
