HOOK 37
It was 1959 when 16 trout
anglers at the Au Sable River in
northern Michigan got together to
see what they could do to make sure
their
children and future generations
would be able to also enjoy the
pristine waters and the cold water
trout they spawned. Their initiative
was the right goal at the right time.
From the little group of 16 family
volunteers, Trout Unlimited (TU) is
today a major North American or-
ganization. These community volun-
teers are passionate and dedicated
to conserving, protecting, and espe-
cially at holiday times, restoring
North America's cold-water trout and
salmon fisheries and their water-
sheds.
Yes, we did say, river restoring
work keyed to our winter holidays.
