HOOK 65 How can I describe the excitement it brought grow- ing up celebrating Easter. Finally we could be more outdoors again. One of the important things during those early warmer days was to collect moss to build our Easter nests in the garden. Easter Spring The Time Of New Beginnings Text and photography by Simone Gogel Eisold We wanted to make sure it was really nice and cosy for the Easter bunny to leave a surprise for us on Easter Sunday. You could almost say it was a competition amongst us kids. My older brother was so clever to bend branches creating a moss roof over his nest. We all would spend quite some time to pick the best spot in the garden and went to work building ours. Despite moss being dormant during the winter season it remains green and is lovely to use in any kind of Spring arrangements. After a long winter we all yearn to see those first bits of green in our yards. So building these nests was a wonderful way to create a little green oasis amongst the bushes and perennials that were still slumbering. The morning of Easter Sunday was jumping out of bed and running outside to look at our nests. Chocolate bunnies, colored eggs, and candy. Our own little Spring treasure chest we worked so so hard on, was filled with the most wonderful bright colors and delights!
