Known for his honest and reflec3ve songwri3ng, Ma4 Pond's music explores themes of love, loss, and finding beauty in life's struggles. The magic of their sound consists of mul3-faceted composi3ons of Jeremy Wall and selec3ons from Pat Metheny, Keith Jarre4, Wayne Shorter, Chick Corea, Eric Sa3e, and lesser known gems by Brazilian composers. In March, Music Sessions @ RoCA features cocomama: nocturno Project on Sat, March 15 at 7:30 pm. Led by acclaimed pianist and composer Nicki Denner, Nocturno Proj- ect reimagines the beauty of 19th and early 20th-century classical music by infusing it with the energy of jazz, Afro- Cuban, and Brazilian tradi3ons. The group features a powerhouse lineup, including Anton Denner on saxophones and flutes, known for his work with Ray Charles and at fes3vals worldwide; Mayra Casales on percussion, who has performed with Celia Cruz and Dizzy Gillespie; and Jennifer Vincent on bass and cello, a long3me member of the Duke Ellington Orchestra.
