66 HOOK MAGAZINE | 2024 Now 53 years old, Rockland Photography Club has just started its 2024-25 season. They are a friendly group that loves making images and getting together to share them. Members shoot with all kinds of cameras – even iPhones – and have skills ranging from Beginner to Salon. The club has hybrid meetings -Zoom and in-person, twice a month. Scheduled are exciting speakers on a variety of subjects. They go on field trips and have mentoring. For information www.rocklandphotoclub.org C O M M U N I T Y E V E N T S Rockland Center for the Arts Just in time for the holi- days, visit RoCA for our popular HOLIDAY AFFORD- ABLE ART & POTTERY BAZAAR, a showcase of unique, handmade objects and artworks that will bring a lifetime of memories. The bazaar runs December 7th–21st and is open Mon.– Sat. 11 am–4 pm. Four exhibits are on view at RoCA from October 19th—No- vember 23rd (opening receptions: Saturday, October 19th, 1-4 pm). The Land: Early Artists @ Gate Hill Co-op features artists George Ancona, Sari Dienes, Johanna Vanderbeek, Stan VanDerBeek, DeeDee Halleck, Paul Hultberg, Juliette Gordon, Karen Karnes, M.C. Richards, David Weinrib, Sam Weinreb, Paul Williams, Vera Williams and William Hochhausen. Cur- rent Gate Hill Co-op artists Predrag Dubravcic, Alexis Elton, Bel Falleiros, and Eleonor Sandresky will be ex- hibiting in Gallery One and Gallery Two. Join them for a FREE FALL FAMILY FESTIVAl in The Catherine Konner Sculpture Park on Sat., October 26th, (rain date 10/27) from 12-3 pm. Activities include free art workshops and live music. RoCA kicks off its winter term of Studio Art Classes for all ages and skill levels on Monday, January 13th. Rockefeller State Park Preserve (RSPP) call for digi- tal photos for NYS Parks Centennial Photo Exhibit . Submit 1 or 2 photos by Nov 1st that you took at the Preserve for 100th Anniversary Exhibition in the Art Gallery during Dec. Selected applicants will receive a framed print of their photo. Prints will also be available to purchase to raise funds for the Preserve. Submit 1- 2 photos in the highest resolution to photos@rocke- fellerstateparkpreserve.org, in the email list your first and last name, and title of photo. POCANTICO HILLS MARATHON — November 9th, 8 am-4 pm. This chal- lenging and beautiful course begins and ends at the Rockwood Hall section of the park, overlooking the Hudson River and the Palisades. RockefellerStateParkPreserve.org/events At The Art Gallery at the Rockefeller State Park Preserve (RSPP) through Oct. 19th: Artist Niangben exhibits THANGKA ART, which depicts mandalas, deities, and Buddhist themes (above: Chinese Elephant). Using natural, gem-quality minerals on cotton or silk, his paintings have earned him recog- nition from prestigious museums in China, and Honor as a Chinese Na- tional Master of Arts and Crafts and inheritor of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage stewardship.
