ARCH is able to "prac5ce what they preach," when it comes to relying on sustainable processes.
They s5ck by their mo6o "shop the shop," where team members see what they have in stock from previous projects; if one of their proj-
ects isn't a permanent work of art, it goes back to their workspace, where it's taken apart, properly back-stocked, and saved for future "shop-
ping." ARCH partnered with neighboring local business O'Sullivan Tree Care and Recycling to dispose of natural wood materials they can no
longer use. There, the wood is ground up for compost and mulch, taking a step in the right direc5on for waste reduc5on.
ARCH also frames its sustainable prac5ces through the scope of design. "The way you design something is your first opportunity to effect
change and to minimize your footprint or impact in the process of doing that thing," says Collier. In the beginning of working with a client,
the team at ARCH assesses how materials are used, what materials will be used, is that material sustainably sourced or upcycled, and the im-
pact the piece is going to have a%erwards. Taking measures such as this helps ARCH reach Collier's goal of B-Corps status; a B-Corps cer5fied
